Chapter closes on Britannica in print. We have online.

In The Age today… “Encyclopaedia Britannica says it will stop publishing print editions of its flagship encyclopedia. The Chicago-based company announced on Tuesday that the encyclopedia won’t be available in book form for the first time in 244 years. The company will continue to publish digital versions”

But don’t worry….we have Britannica online!!

We have:

Britannica Online – Academic Edition – which is the online version of the well known Encyclopaedia Britannica this resource searches Encyclopædia Britannica and Britannica Concise Encyclopedia articles as well as media, web sites, and videos.

Britannica Online – School Edition Pre K-12 – which offers high quality learning materials that have been developed by teachers and curriculum experts. The recently enhanced ‘Learning Materials’ area now has more than 400 searchable lesson plans, exercises, manipulatives, and interactivities – organised by type, subject, grade and curriculum standard. There is significant Australian content with over 6000 articles on or about Australia correlated to the Australian curriculum for every state and territory

Britannica Image Quest – which provides access to more than two million images from one convenient site. All images are rights-cleared for non-commercial, educational
use—great for teacher lessons plans, assignments, activities, and whiteboards; student reports and projects; or school Web sites, newsletters, newspapers, flyers, and bulletins.

 

How do you find it?

There are a few ways….

type the name of the resource, for example – Britannica image quest – into the Library search box and follow the links to online access

OR

go to the Databases (journals/articles) page on the website and select from the A-Z list.
